The Portishead Lakegrounds were 100 years old on May 11th and to celebrate this and their 40th birthday the Lions Club of Portishead organised a sponsored walk , on Sunday 23rd May, for children from Trinity Primary, Portishead Primary and Highdown Infants school.
In brilliant sunshine the children and parents set off on 3 separate walks, with 3 Lion mascots to accompany them. Waving flags and carrying balloons the children had a great time. The ATC kindly helped with the marshalling.
The Fire Brigade and the local Police brought along vehicles for the children to sit in and try out the sirens and the ATC assisted with marshalling..
Thanks to the support from local businesses including Ashbury’s Estate Agents, Waitrose, Brewsters, Dreams, Pets at Home, Avon and Somerset Police, and Kellands all monies raised will go to the children’s schools.
Thank you to all the children and families for taking part. As the event was such a great success, the Lions Club hope to repeat it again next year.
