Court House Farm situated opposite the Folk Hall, is part of the  manor of Portishead and mentioned in the Domesday Book. Bristol City Council claim ownership from 1616. The Council are auctioning Portishead's heritage through Colliers CRE as a freehold vacant urban farm with development potential. Informal views as to the development potential would allow 5 residential dwelling and possible new builds.

A petition to stop the sale and to open discussions with a view to keeping Court House Farm under public ownership is available at Morgan Westley, Portishead Pet Shop, The Corner Cafe, the White Cot and Seasons Florists, to date. There are also petitions circulating throughout the community.

There is an opportunity to bring Court House farm back to the community of Portishead. A historic visitor centre, education centre and community farm are just some ideas.

What a wonderful idea it would be to have a community farm. It would regenerate interest in the countryside for the yound kids of the town who have never been lucky enough to live in the country 'for real'. Those of us who grew up learning about farm animals and the growing of food have a more balanced perspective of the basic needs of life. Portishead used to have many working farms years ago and now we are reduced to begging the council to allow the people of Portishead to retain one of the last ones. What a sad reflection on society.
