Rock and dance academy at Portishead Youth Centre

ASPIRING musicians and dancers will be able to get tips from the experts at a special academy at Portishead Youth Centre.

A Rock and Dance Academy at the youth centre during the school holidays from June 1-4.

The academy, which are funded by the Find Your Talent initiative, is open to 11 to 19-year-olds who can play an instrument such as guitar, bass, drums, keyboard or can sing or dance.

Youngsters can also learn about music technology and recording techniques.

Participants will also be tutored on various playing techniques and how to rehearse and play in a band.

They will study all types of music and will have an opportunity to record their music.

The four-day course will culminate with a final performance on June 4.

The sessions run from 10.30am to 4pm and will be tutored and mentored by professional musicians and dance teachers.

The academy is free but a registration fee of £5 is required.

Young people wishing to take part need to be available for the four days and registration closes on May 25.
