YOUNG people in Portishead will be back behind the mic this Spring when the town's Radio Dynamic hits the airwaves.

The station, which is operated from studios at Portishead Youth Club and run by club members, goes on air in April.

The station, which will broadcast at 87.9 FM, will feature a mix of music, chat and interviews as well as promoting events happening in and around Portishead.

The station, which is managed by Kim Dodd, is staffed entirely by young people and runs from 9am -10pm each day.

More people are needed to take part in this year’s broadcast any anyone interested in getting involved should ring the youth centre on 01275 842461.

The radio station was first launched in 1999 and was called MAP FM and changed to Radio Dynamic in 2001.

Initially youngsters put on one week long broadcast each year at Easter, but due to its popularity, a second broadcast now goes on air every October.

The costs of the radio station are covered by grants, local fundraising, sponsorship and by selling on air advertising space.

As well as tuning in on the radio, people can also listen to the station by logging onto www.portisheadyouthclub.co.uk.
