It competed in the 1st Section against 14 other Bands from across the region, playing "The Moorside Suite" by Gustav Holst, a piece that was chosen by the organisers to present a tricky challenge to the Bands taking part.
According to the adjudicators, two bands stood out with Portishead in particular being complemented for its performance and Bournemouth closely behind.
The Band will now go on to perform at the National Finals on 25th September in Harrogate, against other winning Bands from across the country, with a chance to become the National Champions
The Town Band also earned itself promotion as a result of the win and from 2011 it will compete in the Championship section, the banding world's equivalent to the football Premiership.
The Band is looking for sponsorship to fund it's travel and accomodation for this trip, so please get in touch if you'd be interesting in supporting us
