Portishead Pool Ice Rink

The trustees of Portishead Open-Air Pool are thinking of installing an ice rink at the pool for the winter months.
The pool closes at the end of September and as well as undergoing maintenance, a feasibility study will be carried out to look at installing an ice rink to attract visitors out of season.
The rink would be placed over the pool on a large frame, and would be open to the public between January and Easter.
This is a great idea and it would be wonderful for Portishead if it goes ahead.
Something I don't understand though is why it wouldn't open until January - surely an ice rink would be a major attraction during the Christmas period? Very festive! Many more people would be able to go then, and it would be wonderful to have it available for children during the school holidays.
What do others think?

Perhaps because the rink equipment will be in use at Cribbs Causeway; or similiar; over Christmas, where they pay good money to use it as an attraction for Christmas Shoppers.
The equipment will then be available after Christmas at a much lower cost.

ReportYes it doesnt usually get cold enough until January. White Christmases are still quite rare but i agree that it would be great to have it open during the Christmas New Year break.
