Neglect of railway

O N numerous occasions there has been the call to set up an ITA – Integrated Transport Authority – in the Greater Bristol area.
Our local Greater Bristol railway is so neglected it is embarrassing.
The Severn Beach line is proving to be successful and is carrying record numbers of passengers. But this is mainly down to campaigning groups like FOSBR (Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways) who make sure adequate funding is required for this branch line.
If we never had these campaigning groups I dread to think what would happen to our Greater Bristol rail network.
The Filton railway bank is restricted to two railway lines. This is the most used railway track into and out of Bristol and is full to capacity. The two railway lines that were taken out in the 1970s need to be put back.
Ashley Hill and Horfield stations need to be rebuilt.
Also it is disgraceful that the Portishead line has not been reopened.
We need to invest in the Greater Bristol railways now.
Dave Wood.
