Harbour Road - parking outside Marina Healthcare Centre

A brief and simple plea to driver's visiting Harbourside Family Practice on Harbour Road....please use the car park!
Every weekday morning I get get stuck behind cars parked on Harbour Road despite the car park having lots of spaces. OK, there are no double yellow lines (why not?) but surely common sense should tell you that this busy road, approaching a roundabout is not an ideal place to abandon your vehicle? So endeth my rant.....

Well Said, AllNAmesTAken. Anyone who says you are moaning, have nothing else in their lifes to occupy them.
It should be 'common sense' for people to use the carpark. Not only is the place in question close to a junction, there is a bus stop as well.
It seems we have to paint silly lines everywhere, all because the majority of people cannot think for themselves.

ReportAllNamesTaken - I'm not sure I would always agree with Suttssutts and certainly he/she has had plenty of opportunity to post positive comments on this site but has chosen instead to be negative while wondering whether you will post something positive.
That said, you are complaining about legally parked cars. Also on this site are people complaining about drivers doing the legal speed limit along the high street. In the local papers people living in certain roads complain about drivers using the road as a short cut/rat run. Roads are roads and I think we all need to expect cars to use them and for the number of cars using them to increase. Parking spaces are parking spaces and I guess people will park their cars in those spaces.
If you believe that this area of road should be a double yellow line area, that seems to be the point to make to whoever needs to listen. However, complaining about drivers when you are clearly driving somewhere yourself. I am therefore with the others, get up earlier, drive carefully and if you really want to reduce the number of cars in the area, sell yours (I know you don't have a choice, ice caps have to wait until you retire and stop driving before they stop melting etc. etc.)

ReportAllNames Taken, I have no time to write my own stories as I am commenting on all the moaning that this site generates. I think it is brilliant to have one site for all the moaners. They certainly do come out for this site. Not one positive idea, not one positive solution, not one thing that says this is a good town and I like to live hear, just moan bloody moan. I have enjoyed Portishead for many years after moving hear from Bristol, yes it has changed, yes it will continue to and in many ways it is much better than it was 20 years ago, yes there are more people better shops, more queus and more people to say good morning to, the healthcare is better the carnival is now fantastic and the bus service into town is much improved.
So hearing you moan about "Every weekday morning I get get stuck behind cars parked on Harbour Road" seems so trivial and moany that I thought I would point it out to you, in the hope that you will post something balancing and positive here. (I won't hold my breath)

ReportThese parked cars should be considered an asset to this vicinity, ought to be encouraged, not derided, and most certainly not dissuaded.
They positively restrict the speed of itinerant vehicles thus removing the need for more intrusive methods that would certainly be detrimental to vehicular suspension components.
Give me a parked car over a speed hump any day of the week.
