Catherines have a go!

It is a shame to see that Catherines Patisserie have decided to attack their new competition instead of concentrating on promoting the positives about their own offering.
It is silly to raise the fat content of competitors food when your own window is full of cream, jam and sugar based cakes.
Perhaps a refurb would also go a long way to retaining existing customers and winning the new "coffee crowd". Imagine nice surroundings, youthful staff, great coffee and Catherines cakes, a winning combination.
So come on Catherines, don't go after the doughnut and sausage roll brigade, modernise and service the more discerning customer.

I've never been back since they introduced a smoking area just feet away from their produce.
I never could understand who'd want to buy a split tin that smelt like an ashtray

ReportI agree, this is the way forwards and the key to a succesfull survival of the unique, small businesses, concentrating on their own strenghts, not the weaknesses of their competitors!
On a similar front, I couldn't help observing how the opening of the two new clothes stores triggered the refurbishment of M&Co, surviving a competition is a little bit like natural selection, unless one adapts and evolves one will extinct!
