Nick Carpenter, 15, from Clevedon has been picked for the Under-17’s England Rugby Squad but has been told by team coaches that he needs to get stronger if he is to succeed.
theclub at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House, has stepped in and offered Nick the opportunity to use its top-of-the-range facilities in order to build up his strength and achieve his dream.
Jason Eaton, manager of theclub said: “We are thrilled to be able to help such a promising young talent and hope that our facilities will help Nick realise his dream of playing for England.
“We have all the latest fitness equipment and our staff will be able to guide Nick to do the right exercises for his purposes. We just hope he remembers us when he’s famous!”
Nick who currently plays for Clevedon Rugby Club and attends Clevedon Community School said: “Being picked for the U-17’s England team was a dream come true but I know if I don’t get my strength up I’m going to struggle to compete professionally. Thanks to theclub at Cadbury House I now have a real chance at becoming better. I can’t wait to start training.
“I’m really going to try to build up my strength with the help of the gym and I’m also going to put the pool to good use to help my fitness. The facilities at theclub are fantastic, much better than anything else in the area.
“I have been playing rugby since I was in year 7 and I absolutely love it; I’m really grateful that Jason and the team gave me this opportunity.”
Nick will be participating in international matches in April 2011 where he will compete against the U17 teams from Scotland and France.
Cadbury House is renowned in the area for supporting local schools and sports clubs and is keen to be part of the community. Jason said: “We love taking an interest in what is going on in the area; we are very much a community based health club. We wish Nick all the best for the future.”
