TWO concerts in Clevedon and Portishead have raised nearly £2,000 for charity.

The Portishead Community Choir and Bold Brass performed at the United Reformed Church on July 10, putting together a repertoire including Moon River, and Georgia on my Mind.

A second concert - featuring 100 singers from Portishead in Harmony, Clevedon A Capella and Clevedon's Sing your Socks off group, was held at St Mary's Church, Clevedon.

The town's Singing for the Brain group also sang some of its favourite songs, accompanied by Hilary Snaden on piano.

The Portishead concert raised £1,000 for the North Somerset branch of the Alzheimer's Society and the Clevedon event raised a further £936 which will be divided between Childrens' Hospice South West and the Alzheimer's Society.
