THE council has announced it is to spend extra money on repairing potholes across the district.

This is good news, especially as some of the extra money has come from the Government.

But will it be enough?

North Somerset Council is planning £636,000 of repairs which are in addition to its already planned road repair programme.

It will cover another 11 locations across the district.

North Somerset Council executive member for highways, Councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said: “The severe weather earlier in the year really knocked our roads for six, and ever since we’ve been pulling out all the stops to repair the damage.

“Through our contractors, we will continue to provide extra crews to fill the potholes for another month to help us to stay on track.

"However we are determined to get the roads back up to standard before the next winter and this additional programme of works will tackle the roads that have been the worst hit.

“Where possible, total resurfacing will be carried out to give us surfaces that will stand the test of time, reducing costs in future years."

But is this enough money to fill all the holes? Why have I still got some gaping craters in my street and have you got any in yours?

And will they be fixed? Let us have your views.
