THIS year's Portishead Raft Race looks likely to have raised more than £10,000.

And now organisers are looking for organisations in the town to help!

Raft Race spokesman, Mark Gardener, said: "The money is flooding in from this years amazing event and early indications are good.

"We didn't reach the heady heights of last year but it looks like we're going to exceed £10k for charity, which is fantastic, so a big thank-you to everyone who donated."

The money raised will go to some worthwhile causes.

The Raft Race committee we will be supporting the Lifeboat again as well as a few nominated local charities such as Childrens' Hospice South West.

Mr Gardener added: "However this will leave us with some further donations to make.

"We'd like charities, groups and other worthy organisations to make an application for donations of up to £500.00 as we may be able to help them out. "

Please apply via the www.portisheadraftrace.co.uk enquiries section.

The only stipulations are that the nominees are local and that the money will go towards a specific item or cause.

The committee has overwhelmingly voted to run the event again next year on Sunday July 10th 2011 - so do get this in the diary now. If you'd like to sponsor The Raft Race event next year, contact organisers via the website.
