Portishead in Bloom vandals should be caught and punished

WHY is it when something good is happening for the community that some moron thinks its funny to ruin it?
Classic example was this week when some of the floral tubs outside the shops on the High Street -put there as part of the Portishead in Bloom entry - were moved and tipped over by brainless yobbos.
A tree planted at Wyndham Way by the Gordano Society to celebrate its 50th anniversary was also damaged along with an apple tree at the community orchard.
All this just two weeks before the judges from South West in Bloom visit.
Portishead secured a gold medal last year and the Portishead in Bloom committee is an honour it wants the town to keep.
This committee spend up to 400 hours a month between them making sure the town looks its best all year round.
I would hate it for some mindless idiots to spoil how great the town looks and also affect Portishead's chance in this competition.
It would be great to see the culprits caught and made to pull on their gardening gloves and put the damage right themselves.
What does everyone else think?

Thank you to all those in the community who support our efforts to make the town look attractive. Portishead in Bloom seeks to ensure the town is 'in bloom' all the year round - not just for competitions. We are volunteers who spend hours weeding, litter picking and planting up flower beds. All this week and next week you will see teams of volunteers on their hands and knees pulling weeds from the gutters and collecting takeaway cartons and empty alcohol cans which mindless individuals have dropped. The RHS Judges will be visiting the town on Friday 9 July from 9.am. and they do not look favourably on vandalism and litter. The culprits who insist on spoiling the environment in this town could spend some time on their hands and knees clearing up the mess left by them!
A very despondent member of Portishead in Bloom.

ReportIs there no CCTV down the High Street?
And, Yes, I agree they should put right the damage they caused.
