It’s that time of year where the leaves are starting to fall from the trees and the children have gone back to school. So now perhaps it’s time to concentrate on you – and give yourself a pamper to recharge your batteries after the long summer holidays keeping the children entertained.
Why not give yourself a treat? Come on you deserve it after dealing with weeks of organising activities and keeping the young ones entertained!
Perhaps a new haircut, outfit or a trip to a nice restaurant in the town to help you unwind would be just what the doctor ordered.
I always find that a day of pampering does wonders, from a new hair colour and cut to just a facial. It’s important to put some time in the diary just for you.
So mums, why not treat yourself to a haircut? How about some warm highlights in your barnet to give it a bit of a lift or a new style to welcome in the season?
Portishead offers some great salons. There is Jean Mays in Portishead precinct, Hailey’s Hair Studio and Essentuals in the High Street and Robert John at Cabstand.
There is also Plaza and Palomares, all of which have a team of great stylists ready to advise you whether you want a trim, complete restyle or a new colour.
All of the salons also offer appointments for men, so there’s no excuse not to look your best lads!
A massage is always a good way to unwind and relax and release some of those aches and pains. Massages can be tapered especially if you have any problem areas and often masseurs use a range of different oils to help which penetrate deep into the skin. Try Serenitas Holistic and Beauty Therapies.
And if the recent poor weather has left you feeling a bit white and pasty why not give yourself a spray tan? Easy and much quicker than sunbathing, a spray tan is the ideal solution. Visit Home and Spray Tanning Shop to book your appointment now!
If you skin is looking a little bit worse for wear after the sun why not treat yourself to a facial? There are a range available from ones to rehydrate the skin and get rid of those dead cells to others which will penetrate and lift those wrinkles!

Lush Lashes and Beauty at the Village Quarter can also give your peepers a makeover. Fake lashes are all the rage at the moment. I have had them done and they are excellent and really make your eyes stand out. I would definitely recommend them! And as they come in a range of colours, it means you save on the old mascara too! Great for a party or special occasion or if you just fancy treating yourself.
If a new outfit will do the trick – there are some good Autumn sales on at the moment - Portishead also has a lot to offer.
M & Co in the High Street is currently undergoing a re-fit but is still open and there is Peacocks and New Look at Old Mill Road that have the latest trends of the season.
The High Street offers a range of great shops to browse including Hub designer clothes, Soleution shoe shop.
If you are looking to get fit after the holidays, why not join a gym to tone up? There is Better Bodies in the High Street and a gym at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre.
