Vandals go on spree in Portishead

A MUM is asking for people to be vigilant and keep an eye out after vandals went on a graffiti spree in Portishead.
Rosanne Woodcraft, 41, left her Pennant Place home last Tuesday morning to take her two sons to school.
She discovered vandals had sprayed graffiti all over the walls surrounding her property.
One of the walls is 9ft long and the other is 6ft.
The damage will cost hundreds of pounds and take weeks to put right, as Mrs Woodcraft and husband Robert, 47, wait for their claim to be processed with their insurance company.
Mrs Woodcraft said: “I am really not happy, it is a complete nightmare.
“We have lived here three years and nothing like this has every happened before.
“But I am now concerned that it will happen again so I’m asking people to look out for one another.”
Mrs Woodcraft, a full- time mum who also has a 10-month-old daughter, said she thinks the vandalism occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday morning.
She said: “I went to bed at 11.30pm on Monday and it hadn’t happened before then.
“I always open the window when I go to bed and usually hear voices if there is anyone around, but I didn’t hear a thing, which makes me think it must have been quite late as otherwise I am sure I would have woken up.
“Before I left to take my sons to school last Tuesday, I had seen people looking at the house, but it wasn’t until I left the house at around 8am when I saw the graffiti.”
The vandals didn’t just use spray cans to vandalise her home.
Other houses, some empty and some privately owned in Newfoundland Way, also had similar graffiti sprayed on them.
The empty properties are believe to be owned by a housing developer but both Crest Nicholson, Charles Church and Taylor Wimpey have said it is not their properties which have been vandalised.
Mrs Woodcraft reported the incident to the police.
An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: “I can confirm that an incident of vandalism has been reported to us and the Portishead beat team are now investigating.”
Anyone with who might have any information is asked to call Portishead police on 0845 456 7000.

An identical "work of art" can be seen at the car park of The Anchorage, off Newfoundland Way - in the same design and colour - and it appeared at the same time.
One of the kids who lives there has been seen with spray cans. I am keeping a close watch.
