Who does our local council represent

Anyone looking at Portishead council must begin to ask who do they represent the people of Portishead or only certain sections of our comunity.?
The Skatepark project brings this question up again again. Our councilors
should be ashamed that this project has been argued about for so long.
Conservaties have changed from a can do party to a won't do party.

ReportThere has been because of the absolute rule of one party in Portishead a
definite decline in the interest residents show in local politics.Residents realise
that there is very little chance in changing anything. The whole structure
locally here and in North Somerset is ruled by one party and has been for
years.Even though there have been expensive mistakes made in Portishead
they are still in power. As in any system permanent power causes whichever
party is in power to become compacent.

ReportI think the events of the skatepark fiasco show exactly whom they support and it is certainly not the majority who have shown an interest in the planning matter (less than 10% opposed the plans, yet the 90% were still ignored by their councillor). It's time for certain councillors to re-read the standards expected and the code of conduct for councillors and to think long and hard if they really do want to represent or to dictate. Upon winning an election a councillor is obliged to represent all of his constituents not just those who voted for him.
