Is it just me, or has the new shell garage cheapen the town?

It's a big, bright, yellow service station in the centre of town.

I haven't driven past yet to see the new sign but when I go out later this afternoon will have a look. I am assuming it is open now.

It's open al-right ! Went in to fill up on Sunday morning about 11 o'clock and had to wait almost ten minutes before I could get on a pump. There were no queues at the tills but there were a number of people browsing the shop who were parked on the pumps.
Roll on Sainsbury's

I don't see how it cheapen the town, this Shell petrol costs more than that cheaper Waitrose stuff, more expensive means more upmarket!

Hardly service station prices (assuming you mean the likes of M-way fuel ) ? Shell petrol costs more than that cheap Waitrose stuff...??? That cheap stuff was BP. Waitrose don't have any of their own fuel, just the name on the forecourt and shop (well, used to ) !

It's only a yellow sign? There's much uglier things in portishead? Also, although the prices are high, shell doesn't have any other competitors to compete with so anyone with any business sense would understand their pricing strategy. As soon as another petrol station is built in portishead, which is in high demand, this issue will be resolved.
