What does everyone think about the plans to put a second mini roundabout at the Cabstand junction? Will it work or is it a roundabout too far? Will Portishead end up like Swindon - the town of mini roundabouts?

Think it may be a good idea. Lots of people who use the junction now don't seem to know who's got priority and spend ages just hovering at the crossroad, sometimes they're right in the middle of the road.

Like the new mini-roundabout at the High Street junction with Wyndham Way, motorists will be tempted to make U-turns and through increased speeds are less likely to give way to cyclists.
If the issue is that the queues for the petrol station are obstructing the carriageway a box junction should be considered. Certainly, marking the Cabstand-High Street junction as a T-junction would help overcome any confusion over priorities.

Good point Alt Voice. I'd forgotten about the weekend mayhem at the Waitrose garage. They sometimes queue on the road to get in there. It is so dangerous.
I think that if all else fails there should be some notice as to who has priority at that junction. I watched someone block the whole junction by just waiting right in the middle of the road for the queue into the garage to reduce. It took ages for them to realise that the horns were for them to move!
