There have been some humungous wasps around, hornets too. I had a queen wasp pulping wood and making a hive in the ground in my garden EEK!

ReportWell if the wasps weren't bad enough, I've just had an adder slither into my conservatory in broad daylight! Perhaps he was chasing the wasp?!! Never known that before. I thought snakes only really came out when it was really hot, and although it's pleasant weather, it's not scorching. Perhaps it is something to do with the drastic changes in weather - from really hot to torrential rain we are having this year? What does everyone else think and has anyone got any tips to stop the horrid snakes coming back? I will be sleeping with one eye open tonight for the slippery little suckers!

ReportIncrease in flies also compared to previous years, not as bad as 1960s and 1970s Mendip where Darrell smoked them out of existence, but a nuisance. Large numbers declined when the Councils buried waste as fast as it was tipped, but we had trouble with compost bin LA style green and have had to cover and treat, so the recycling effort has some problematic issues somebody could provide a fly and wasp control answer to? Anyway give a fly or wasp some people sheep or cattle horses and any waste and they are there hunting, ice cream, sandwiches.
