Sainsbury's bosses have said they want to open a new petrol station as part of the development of a new store in Portishead. Good news for a town with only one garage. Post your views here.

Hopefully they won't be greedy!
Waitrose, even though they are currently the only petrol station, consistently have the lowest price in the local are (Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea).

ReportSainsburys bosses have not said they want to open a new petrol station, they have said they are researching the idea. This is the same as them saying they are 'researching the idea of opening up a rail link into Bristol', 'researching the idea of a new road crossing the motorway', researching the idea of putting a post office in store', researching the idea of developing the cycle route behind the store'. All it means is that they have researched local web sites to find out what will make local people support their plans, all of which will come to nothing once the shop is open. Hang on, we have a local council who can stop this kind of empty promise don't we? Oh, I'm sorry, they are still reviewing which facility to withdraw next from Portishead.
