I was disappointed to find a bong left in full view in the park on Sunday morning. My 19 month old daughter walked straight past it and pointed at it as she went. It's a shame that kids who think they are being 'cool' can't sort themselves out and put things in the bin and allow children to grow up in the way the playground was designed for. Parents must smell the smoke and marijuana on their kids but seem to be doing nothing about it, allowing them to roam the streets till late at night. All too often you see teenage kids, as young as 13/14 with spliffs in their hand. Residents must be aware of teenagers being in the park late at night, are police ignoring this area?

    Cashy01,

As the New Safer Stronger Neighbourhood Sergeant for Portishead I am disappointed to read your message but not shocked. I too feel it’s such a shame that whoever does this sort of thing clearly doesn’t think of the consequences that it has on others.
As far as the Police are concerned we will not tolerate drugs and will positively act upon information that we receive. Unfortunately, we can not be everywhere at once so we are very reliant upon intelligence that is presented to us by members of the Community.
I would like to encourage anyone who has similar experiences, or any other Police matter, to let us know so that the appropriate action can be taken- you can make contact with me by using the contact details below or alternatively by visiting the Avon and Somerset Police website  tinyurl.com/ltpbt8
Please visit the above web site and take a look at the relevant pages for your area and you’ll see that there are dates for Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings. These meetings have been set up so that residents in the area can attend and air their concerns to the Police regarding matters that are important to them- we can then take action.
