Does anyone know anything about the flyer that came through today about Wheelie bins?

It said 'The council decides on a new approach to refuse collection. Is it a wheelie good idea?' with a picture of a wheelie bin so I assume it is in discussion. Wanted to know if anyone knew anything about it. I hope we do get them as it will cut down on rubbish ending up everywhere in the Village Quarter after the cats have been at all the bags the night before!

ReportWheelie bins would be good. I was in Weston last week on their rubbish collection day and there was a gang of seagulls on a wall, looking down at another seagull who going to each of the rubbish bags in turn, tearing at them with its beak, ripping them open and then pulling the rubbish out bit by bit. Soon they were all at it. I'm glad the seagulls here haven't caught on! It's bad enough with the cats!
I asked the council and it said there were no plans to introduce wheelie bins at the moment. However, I understand the waste contract is up for renewal and the companies are being asked to look at what services they can provide. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I think wheelie bins would work for some people, but not others. I know elderly people find them difficult to manouevre.
