Gordano Education and Enterprise Network.
Gordano School, Portishead is a centre of excellence for the new Diploma Programme. A Diploma is a qualification for 14-19 year olds, with 3 levels of study Foundation, Higher and Advanced, being available alongside GCSEs, A levels and Apprenticeships.
The Diplomas represent a radical new development in education, offering real opportunities for learners to develop skills relevant to the modern labour market and are highly marketable to employers. A particular strength and a great innovation is they offer learners a framework to develop their skills holistically, with a strong focus on functional and employment skills, as well as applied skills and knowledge.
A key part to the success for students is to be able to access local and national employers and businesses.
Therefore the Gordano Education and Enterprise Network has been recently set up with the support of the Portishead Chamber of Commerce and Kestrel Court. The aim will be to form a network of businesses large and small and employees who can not only support the school but enjoy other benefits from being part of GEEN. The school would like employers to not only offer the traditional work experience placements, but also to be able to talk to students about their businesses and even host visits to their workplace. Likewise if you are an employee and have an interesting or unusual job , the GEEN would like to hear from you too.
There will be a free GEEN breakfast meeting at Kestrel Court on Wednesday 3rd February at 7.30 am for those interested in finding out more details.
