Counciljoke - In your post from 22-11-2011 (09.30), starting 'What do people think?  A secret meeting.....', I have asks you a number of times 'Have you reported these specific concerns to the relevant authorities?  If so, what was the outcome of the investigation?'

I note that you have FAILED to respond to these questions?  I would be grateful if you could specifically answer these questions.  Many thanks.

Just returned from the High Street where a friend asked me if I was still following this thread. In all honesty @NewToPHead you do seem to be trying to stray from the whole point and take peoples attention away from the issue.
My point on that the matter is that yet another generation of youngsters in Portishead have been sold short deliberately by this council, a few members especially who have acted for personal reasons. If councillors now have to use these forums under aliases then that says to me they have something to hide, and you seem to have far too much to say for someone who doesn't know our town as you have yet to even move here.
This is a beautiful place to live with lovely people and if some councillors are abusing their positions then it should be exposed and brought to the attention of local people not swept under the carpet as some are trying very hard to acheive.

Totally agree with everything you have said. If councillors have done wrong, then they should be held to account.

Above I am simply asking that if Counciljoke has concerns regarding councillor conduct, then he should report them to the appropriate authorities to investigate. Its as simple as that.

Btw - I am not a councillor, I do not know any local councillors and would want them held to account if they are doing wrong. Simple.

I've just spent the past half hour reading back through the comments on this matter and there does seem to be overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing as mentioned, not just by counciljoke, but by another contributor who has given a lot of substantiated information, and as they say most can be easily found. I also read again somebodys long response to the video which lists all the comments made in that video and must agree that it is no more than a factual catalogue of actions by councllors of the past few years, nothing fabricated apart from a spot of humour and yet something councillors don't seem happy for us all to know. I'm sure this subject has a lot more for us to feast on before it is concluded and I look forward to it as there is most definitely something underhand about it all. That video in particular doesn't even appear to actually accuse anybody of anything yet the reaction has been, to say the least, overplayed.
Maybe if the council were more transparent these matters would not arise.

As I have said, after reading the amount of information giving on here I would assume it has been reported, unless you know differently. I can also understand why people would want to put it on here as most matters like this never get to see the light of day and surely it is good that some have chosen to make it public as it involves everyone who lives her. I have had many conversations in the past week about it especially after the outcome of the skate project. If you actually lived here you would know what the local feeling was at the moment.

With all due respect, I think everyone who thinks there is a case to answer has a moral obligation to do so, for 2 reasons:

    1. Don't assume that someone else has actually got off their backside and reported it
    2. If the council can get an appreciation of public feeling, they may be more willing to change their mind / implement public opinion.

So overall, if your not happy, please report it instead of simply WHINGING about it.

Having read your recent attacks on the previous posters, you now start on me simply becasue I chose to partially agree? I fail to believe that someone who is so new to the town and claims to have no interest in politics and yet seems to have such an obsession with this thread doesn't have an ulterior motive for their postings especially as you would be unaware of whether I or anyone else had made our feelings known to the council. Sadly I must agree with the other poster that you probably are a councillor or a spouse of a councillor hastily trying to defend an indefensible position. Maybe you should attend a few council meetings as I have done over the years before prejudging local people as whingers.

If local democracy has broken down, do something constructive to address it. BUT please don't just WHINGE about it on here! PLEASE!

For the record, I have attended over 50 council meetings where I currently live and have been part of a successful campaigne to stop the close of a local OAP care home

Going forward, I do intend to get more up to speed with local portishead council matters and will do my bit to hold the council to account!

For your information, my husband has sent a very detailed letter of complaint to the Standards Committee and has also made his concerns known to our local MP and councillor as well as to other interested parties., and he actually works for the District Authority. He too thinks he knows who you are. I have also been informed that several other complaints have been made and more are forthcoming. Now maybe you would get back to your council work or whatever it is that is keeping you from packing for your imminent move to the town that you can spent all day on here as this must surely answer the question that you have 'whinged' on about getting an answer to?
