Graffiti on coastal path near the Marina in Portishead.

My husband and I have recently moved house to live near the Marina. We regularly go for a walk in the evenings and weekends along the coastal path to the Promenade leading to the lock gates and the Marina. We were very disappointed last week to see some bright blue rude graffiti written on the coastal path just before the Promenade. Its such a shame that people feel the need to spoil the area, when so much is being done to improve it. We also noticed some of the new trees that had been planted had been snapped in half.

One of the bits of graffiti included a persons name. It's a pity the culprits cannot be traced and made to clean it up. Also I think a form of punishment, such as being made to do some community service work, like gardening for elderly or disabled residents would be a good idea.Although in our modern PC world I suppose this would be regarded as an infringement of the culprits' human rights!

Have seen the grafitti also, and am surprised it hadn't been cleared up by now.
There is always the possibility that 'Harry Newman' isn't the real culprit, but his name used by someone else 'for a laugh'.
It really shouldn't be difficult for Police to find Harry Newman OR his parents, to clear the matter up.
I am presuming, of course, that he is young, due to the juvenile nature of the grafitti.
Totally agree that he should clean up his own 'artwork' and be put to use cleaning up or painting over other grafitti around Portishead.
