  A SECOND World War veteran who went on to work in the Portishead power stations died as a result of asbestos poisoning, an inquest heard. Alfred Jenkins had no idea he had deadly asbestos fibres in his lungs until he had a CT scan in 2004, the inquest at Avon Coroner's Court was told via an earlier court statement prepared by Mr Jenkins before his death.   My husband and I have recently moved house to live near the Marina. We regularly go for a walk in the evenings and weekends along the coastal path to the Promenade leading to the lock gates and the Marina. We were very disappointed last week to see some bright blue rude graffiti written on the coastal path just before the Promenade. Its such a shame that people feel the need to spoil the area, when so much is being done to improve it....
