Libraries in North Somerset will be marking World Book Day with special events for pre school children.
World Book Day is on Thursday, March 7, and is a celebration of books and reading marked by more than 100 countries around the globe.
Its main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
And joining a local library which is free is a great way of children discovering new authors and stories/
North Somerset libraries will be showing how magical sharing stories can be.
Activities on the day for children under five years, accompanied by a parent or carer, include:
- 9.30am rhymes and stories at Weston library with Bookstart Bear;
- 2pm rhymes and stories at For All Healthy Living Centre library;
- 2pm story times at Nailsea library with Bookstart Bear;
- 2.15pm story time at Portishead library; and
- 2.30pm story time at Yatton library.
Bookstart Bear will also be visiting other libraries in North Somerset at ryymes and story time at selected times from Tuesday to Friday, March 5-22.

Best wishes for this event
I'd love to see more local writing appearing on this site - poetry, history , etc
Basically anything that helps re-enforce that we are very lucky to live in Portishead
