A NEW youth forum has been set up in Portishead to allow young people to have their say on issues in the town.
The first informal meeting of the new forum is on July 19 at the Folk Hall at 7pm.
Long standing councillor Barry Walters suggested launching a forum where young people could feed their views straight into the town council.
It is envisaged that the forum - made up of around a dozen young people from Portishead of varying ages - will meet on a quarterly or bi monthly basis.
The forum will be attended by a member of the town council and local councillors who would then feed back issues and ideas to the full town council.
Town council clerk, Martin Dolton said: "This is very much an informal event and a chance for young people to come along and have their say and raise issues of importance to them.
"There is no official agenda or chairman and it is just a chance for young people to talk to local councillors who will then be able to take issues of importance to the full council."
Drinks and snacks will be provided at the forum meeting and anyone wanting to get involved can call Helen Darwall at the town council on 01275 847078.
