Children and staff at Charlton Farm launched their annual Bluebell Walk registration with a teddy bear's picnic.

Children's Hospice South West is inviting everyone to join them for the walk in the beautiful woodland and countryside around its North Somerset hospice on Sunday, April 28.

The charity has selected three new routes for this year:

  • One-mile walk up the pretty wheelchair-friendly Charlton Drive;
  • Three-mile walk through Prior Wood by kind permission of Avon Wildlife Trust; and
  • Six-mile walk through Prior Wood and Tyntesfield estate by kind permission of the National Trust.
Six mile walkers begin at 10am and all other walkers begin anytime between 10am-11am.

CHSW head of fundraising Karen Edgington said: "Walkers are in store for some fun surprises.

"Our hospices are fun and lively places to be and there will be a multitude of surprises hiding in the woods surrounding Charlton Farm to keep children entertained.

"Keep a look out for the blue smiley faces hanging from trees along the way; turn the face round to find a joke, a fact or a quiz question.

"Walkers may also come across a story teller or some teddy bears enjoying a picnic among the bluebells."

Back at Charlton Farm, a country fete which await walkers is also open to the public from 10am bringing everything from market stalls to maypole dancing and from live music to tombolas.

The 2013 Bluebell Walk falls on Charlton Farm's sixth birthday so there will be lots to celebrate.

Registration for the Bluebell Walk is £5 per adult, £3 under 16s and dogs go free.

Walkers can choose to raise sponsorship or make a one-off donation instead.
