Police cadets on duty at Portishead supper for seniors

The newly formed police cadets youth group helped out at the annual senior citizens supper at Portishead.

 The theme for 2013  was the glory days of Hollywood and 125 elderly Portishead residents enjoyed supper at Somerset Hall.

Many of the invited pensioners who were nominated by the community live alond.

They were driven to the event by volunteers including a number of police staff. 

When the guests arrived they were helped from their cars by the police cadets, who escorted them into the venue.

The evening's programme including a three course meal donated by Wiltshire Farm Foods with music from local pianist Richard Lennox. 

There was also a free raffle with prizes donated by Portishead residents and businesses. 

Portishead neighbourhood police team have been helping for the past five years the supper organsied by Cristina Hughes.

PCSO Debbie Charman said: "This event is always a lot of fun and is a fantastic opportunity for all members of the community, young and old, to get to know each other. 

"The waiters and waitresses were all volunteers from Gordano School sixth form,who gave up their own time to support the older residents of the town.

"Also, PCSO Graham Roberts takes great pleasure in his role as MC and quiz master on the evening."
