PARENTS across North Somerset are being asked to have their say on term dates. The term dates for the 2013/14 school year are currently under review. The annual review aims to agree term dates with neighbouring authorities to ensure consistency and continuity through the area. Following the consultation period, North Somerset Council will consider responses and decide the academic year for community and voluntary-controlled schools in the area. The dates being proposed for 2013/14 take into account the overwhelming wishes of schools to retain a calendar of 195 days, which allows for staff development days to be set within term time. A full list of the options can be found at www.n-somerset.gov.uk/schooldates201314. People can send their views to Tony Pearle, school organisation manager, North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 1UJ or take part in the consultation online. The closing date is December 16.
