A BUSY road in Portishead is to be resurfaced at the end of the month.

A project to resurface Nore Road is to start on October 31 and will be done in four phases, with the road being closed for each section.

The work, which is costing £115,000, will see a one mile stretch of the route resurfaced with extra layers being added to strengthen the carriageway in some places.

The four stages will be  from Cabstand to Slade Road and Beach Road, Slade Road to beach Road to West Hill and West Hill to the Windmill pub.

The final stage of resurfacing will be carried out from the pub to Ashdown Road.

The section from Slade Road/Beach Road was resurfaced two years ago. It was found to not reach the required standard and will be patched at no cost to the council.

A North Somerset Council spokesman said: "Each of the stages will be done under a full road closure.

"Access to residents/businesses will be maintained and drivers are asked to be patient while the works are carried out."
