HUNDREDS of frozen chickens brought the M5 between Clevedon and Portishead to a standstill this morning. The motorway had to be closed after a lorry carrying 1,000 frozen chickens crashed, spilling its load over the motorway. Police were called at just after 11.40am today after a chicken delivery lorry crashed into the central reservation on the southbound carriageway between Clevedon and Portishead. One lane of the motorway was closed while emergency crews cleared the debris, piling up hundreds of chickens on the hard shoulder. The driver of the lorry was taken to Weston General Hospital suffering from head injuries. His injuries were not thought to be life threatening. The motorway was fully re-opened by 12.20pm.
